Location: Cannaregio, Venice
The Cannaregio sestiere is the second largest in Venice after Castello and the most populated. In this sestiere is the Ghetto di Venezia, which can be reached by crossing the Ponte delle Guglie bridge and walking along the Strada Nova, the main artery of the whole, leading from Santa Lucia station to Rialto. This approximately 25-minute journey begins at the foot of Ponte degli Scalzi and the church of Santa Maria degli Scalzi and ends in Campo dei Santi Apostoli.
The flat boasts an extremely convenient location, being in the lively Cannaregio district just a few steps away from palaces and historical monuments such as the very close Ca D' Oro, the Misericordia Abbey or the city centre itself with the Rialto Bridge and market that can be reached thanks to the Santa Sofia ferry.
Walking along the Fondamenta della Misericordia, in a very authentic area of Venice characterised by open views and typical palazzi standing out along the canals, we find ourselves in front of a small palazzetto, with just a few units. We are curious and cross the threshold and find ourselves in the entrance hall, which leads us to stairs lit by the sunlight passing through the ceiling. Arriving on the floor, which is the exclusive property of the flat, we enter this delightful property. We immediately notice its incredible brightness, being south-facing, and go into the living area, where we find a dining room and a kitchenette. We are fascinated by the spectacular view from the windows. It is one of the most beautiful canal crossings in Venice and we can also admire a splendid Venetian skyline. Moving towards the bedroom, we notice the well-preserved original Venetian terrazzo floor. The room is spacious and the views are also priceless. We continue to the other side of the property, noticing several spaces cleverly used as wardrobes. We find ourselves in an area lit by windows in the private hallway with a small niche where a small study or multi-purpose space can be recreated, and then we come to the bathroom, with windows and a view of the rooftops. In addition, the flat has a large attic that can be used as storage space or to connect and extend the central room. This flat impresses us with its enchanting views and originality, in a context convenient to transport and all infrastructures but in a bright and relaxed area of Venice.
